King George Sailing Club shines at ISO Eurocup 2026 on Lake Como

Two King George Sailing Club (KGSC) crews delivered standout results at the ISO Eurocup, held 23–26 July at Marvèlia Centro Formazione Vela in Dongo on Lake Como — one of the class's rare visits to this dramatic Northern Italian venue.

Bob Ladell and Michele Cadei (sail no. 2502) claimed the runner-up spot overall, finishing on 13 points after a consistent run of results including a race win in the final race (R8) and three second-place finishes. Their only blemish was a DNF in race 5.

Close behind, KGSC's Asher Robinson and Harry Mitchell (sail no. 1191) took third overall on 16 points, with a strong string of top-five finishes throughout, including two second-place results in races 4 and 7.

Between them, the two KGSC boats occupied second and third overall — just off the pace of race winners Rob Howlett and Henry Collings (Poole YC), who took the title on 6 points.

Crew member Harry Mitchell, new to the boat this season, captured the spirit of the event: "It is racing and everyone takes it seriously, but at the same time there is so much fun ashore and everyone is so friendly. The ISO class definitely has a different vibe."

The ISO vibe

Conditions across the four-day regatta ranged from a manageable 14 knots on day one to a boisterous 24 knots on day two, which built notable waves for an inland lake before thunderstorms curtailed racing on the final day. Nine races were completed in total.

KGSC results:

  • 2nd — Bob Ladell / Michele Cadei (2502) — 13 pts

  • 3rd — Asher Robinson / Harry Mitchell (1191) — 16 pts
